the numbers were very believable.. untill they tested the hemi then i started wondering..

all engines were built to manufacturer spec and completely original

Also why would people be building them now and making less HP? According to that show a 426 Hemi with new aluminum heads and a bigger cam would make 1000 hp. The numbers were complete crap guys, open your eyes.

I've personallyowned a brand new off the show room floor 1966 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT (same as the Ford Fairlane GT) w/ 390 rated at 335 hp, and I bought a brand new 1969 Mercury Cyclone GT 428 Cobra Jet also rated at 335 hp and in my honest opinion the rating those engine had hp wise were reasonably close the just that.
I had both of those car dynoedbefore I started moding them is the reason I can justify what I'm saying.
And NO i can't produce those dyno sheets as much as I'd like too.

I can tell you from growing up and racing different cars in the 60's there was not one engine that came from the factory with 800 hp .Mostengine back then were all ratedbetween 325 hp and 425 hp and if you go back and look at any time sheetsever posted back in the 60's with the stock block you'll see that most of them ran in themid to low 13'sto low 14's .

Todays technologyis so far advances from the 60's that comparinga 335 hp back them is like comparing a 225 hp today.
