Default best way to clean the engine?

question for you guys, my engine compartment is a little dirty on the 92 lx 5.0 and I'd like to clean it up, but not sure of the best way to do this and the safest way to do it. What would you suggest? methods, products? what not to do?

sorry for a bit of a vague question, I'd just like to clean up the whole engine compartment so it's a lot nicer and easier to look at when necessary

All we do is spray the entire engine down with a mild degreaser like simple green, purple rush, etc. and let it sit for about a minute or two and then hose it off, comes out surprisingly good. For extra dirty areas you can scrub it with a brush or go over it a second time if need be. It's best not to spray any electrical connections directly but most things in the engine bay are pretty water proof. I like to wash the car afterwords incase any degreaser got on the paint from wind or whatever. I also like to run the engine for a while with the hood closed to help dry everything out, if it runs crappy or throws a check engine light dont panic, it will probably go away over night. When it's dry, if u want to make it look pretty sick spray some tireshine over the hoses and plastic to give it a liquid look.

Take it apart piece by piece and clean, and sand blast , and repaint or plate, then reassemble.

I'm going to clean mine today... I've heard to spray simple green while engine is running and then hose it off... just don't directly spray your intake and try to avoid electrical connections...
