RE: Stay 5.0 or go import?
This thread is retarded.
The people saying their imports are crap obviously got a car that has been beat to hell and the people saying their domestics are crap got a car that has been beat to hell.
Don't base your opinion on a few experiences or no experiences.
I've owned hondas, bmws, fords, chevies, andtoyotas. It's easy to tell the cars that have been taken care of and ones that have been mistreated.
My advice to the OP is to find a low mileage302 for afew hundred, get a T5 rebuilt, and find a friend that hasthe space to do the swap, or just pay ashop. If you don't have money tofix the car then you don't have money to build a superchargedDD or buy a 20k+ car. (I know what an STi and evo cost)
As far as gas mileage, you don't buy a modded V8mustangto get gas mileage. My last car was a honda civic with a GSR integra swap. The motor was completely built, still had 11.1:1 compression, and stage 2 cams. I was getting 45mpg highway and 35 mpg city. This was on a B16 tranny, for thosethat don'tknow about hondas,at 80mph it was at 4500rpms.I bought a mustang knowing it was slower and gets worse gas mileage, but I have the satisfactory of knowing I own American muscle instead of a foreign tin can that is scary at 80mph+ because it wasn't designed to be fast.

RE: Stay 5.0 or go import?
hey man ive been on both side of this conversation. Now it sound like your woried about gas millage and reliability now why dont you do this.....Keep the mustang for a weekend warrior save up some cash dude and buy like a 92 or 93 honda for the gas miliage and reliability nothing better and i know you mustang guys can agree honda makes great long lasting cars.Ive built nissan sr20det motors 300 hp and a 650 hp honda and trust me i would rather own a mustang. you can pay 500 bucks for 20 hp in a import you pay 500 for a V8 lookin at a good 50 60 maby even more. You dont need a bad *** honda sometinh ggood on gas and keep the mustang get a T5 rebuild get a fidenza flywheel SPEC stage 2 or 3 clutch and some nice pistons and rods make it into a weekend import stomper. Now like i said i love import cars im not trash talking at all but you have to remember everyone is not the same thank god lol. Like i said little honda for work car hardcore stang for the weekend car.
