Default Can I lift my engine from these holes?

Can I hoist it out from here? There is another similar looking one on the opposite side. Or am I must better off pulling the carb? Will that Edelbrock Performer 289 even support the weight of the engine ('91 302)?

Many thanks!

Are you pulling the trans and the motor or just the motor? Normally I just lift it by the front of the cylinder head and one of the bell housing bolt holes. That way theres even support accross the whole motor.

i think you can use that, or an intake bolt,

when we took out the 351 in the mach, we jacket it with a little angle bracket, bolted to 2 intake bolts, and jacked it with a chain connecting the two

Buy an universal plate and take the carb off and lift it by the manifold carb base. I wouldn't use those little thread bosses with only having two holes. I have pulled engines many ways. You can use the exhaust holes in iron heads as long as you have plenty of bolt buried in the hole and they are tight, #2 and #7 cylinder. Sometimes the headers can be used. Or take the whole intake off and thread into the intake manifold bolt holes. I have also used the big EGR holes at the end of the heads to pull engines. Tons of different ways that will safely get the engine out of its bay.

Thats how i used to put my motors in.. Exept i had a steel plate so i drilled the holes so it would fiton the intake.. Then welded an eye for the cherry pickers hook on top of the plate.. It worked perfect..

I'm going to go buy some chain and bolts as it doesnt seem like there is enough chain there to get the job done right. I figure I will take the recommendation of a few of you and pull the intake manifold and use four of those bolt holes.

Any last minute ideas on how to use this hoist, to pull the engine out of this car? I'm starting in a couple hours. Thanks so much folks.
