So the general consensus is that the insurance will be cheap (not too cheap, but cheap) for a 17 year old driver of a 5.0?

Probably because of the Charger. I work at a Dodge dealership as a lot man, I hope you got her the R/T (with the Hemi engine).

i paid 600 every 6 months for liability and it was in my dads name and hes 46. i am 16 so i guess that raised the price. but it got totaled and insurance gave me $6200 for my stang that had 220,000 miles on it. and it wasen't my fault so i guess i got lucky lol, still waiting on the money and it was 4 weeks ago today since the wreck.

Geico advised me that full coverage on my car would be a waste. They are only going to pay book value in the event of a total anyway. You guys that have other companies have they talked to you about payment on the event of a total loss?

Oh and I pay 30 a month - liability only.
thats why I dont have geico...heard to many horror stories about them not wanting to pay.

most try to give you blue book but you can fight against it being that the car could actually sell for a higher amount then blue book you just have to find cars in your area like yours( condition, mileage, year) and prove to them that you cannot replace the car for what they are trying to give you... a guy here got 5500 for a car that blue book said was only worth 3100....

nothing else if they dont come around you could always take what they give you then buy car back and fine a body to stick drivetrain in.....

I know at state farm you can have your car appraised and insured for that amount if its over a certain age due to cars go for alot more than blue book after a certain age...

the reason i keep full coverage is because if a storm was to hurt it then i could get it fixed.. I dont plan on it being totalled... but i did have a camaro that was totalled and because i didnt have anything but liablity the car was lost totally at least if I would have had full coverage i could have gotten something out of it...

I just hate State Farm... bastards. Actually I hate all insurance companies its just State Farm is at the top of the list. I need to shop around though, it makes me nervous only having liability on my car.
