I weighed my '83 with me and a bunch of extra junk in it (laptop, camera, floor jack, full tool box, spare, scissor jack, etc) and it showed an even 3000 on the printout. I got home and weighed all the extra stuff which totalled 273#s + 155#s for me. I weighed it that way because that's how I ran it at the track that day (13.0@108). So the car by itself weighed 2572 that day with almost full tank of gas. Since then, I've added subframe connectors, so its pretty close to 2600 now without me. Went back and ran without the extra weight and got one run of 12.9 @ 109 leaving softly at 2500rpm...then broke the trans next pass attempt and haven't been back.

The car has no power options. Interior panels are all in place.
Weight loss:
aluminum heads
no A/C
no emissions stuff
no sound deadening except @firewall
no rear seat/rear belts/etc
thinner aftermarket carpet w/o heavy backing
no center console/armrest
no radio or speakers at the time of weighing
aluminum radiator
aluminum driveshaft

Weight adders:
17" wheels w/245/45ZR17 tires
EFI intake and related parts
13" Cobra brakes
Extreme matrix brace subframe connectors
Strut tower brace
thicker front anti-sway bar

Dirty Sanchez,
How much weight did you gain with the turbo kit?

I'm almost done with a DIY single set-up on mine and it seems like its about 125#s adding all that stuff up.

Plus it'll gain a few more #s with the cage it'll need to run at the track then + some more with a heavier trans to replace the T5.

I have a 95 that weighs 3250 with me in it andI weigh 195. I have no A/C, no smog system, tremic 3550, alum. heads, supercharger, zex wet kit, full interior with noback speakers, heavy17" steel cobra wheels 50pounds each with tires, fiberglass hood and leather seats. I went to the track last Sunday and when Ichecked the weight of the car I was very surprised it was that low. Thanks

I'd say it added close to your figure of 125 lbs maybe not quite that much, but quite a bit. When Ibought it, it tooka coupleof us guys and my wife to lugall the boxesfrom Urist's trailer to the car in the parking area at the NMRA World Finals. It about killed us carrying it that far.

The Powerglide added weightand so did the cage. I've tried to combat this, but am running out of weight reduction options other than the high dollar stuff that Iwon't mess with (lexan windows etc.) I removed the front sway bar, took out theback seat, hatch carpet, seat belts etc., have Kirkey race seats, and tubular front suspension.

I'd like to do the race seats, tubular k-mem, coil-overs, etc too, but I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

So far I've been doing all my mods under the wife's radar and it's getting tougher to hide things as maintenance. She hates the car, so any performance mods are deemed unnecessary.
