The fact that an older modded 5.0 is faster than a newer 4.6

Do tell? What mods are done to yours, besides the aforementioned N2O? Mach 1 is a far superior car to those94-98. I've had both and speak from experince.

There's sooooo many conflicting reports on which car 5.0 modded or mach 1---is better, faster etc etc etc its not even funny..

It all comes down to how fast you want spend.
Both are fast. Both can be made insanely fast. just depends on deep your wallet is.
A stock 5.0 with modest amount of boost will walk all over a lot late model cars.

As a rule the 5.0 will be easier to work on yourself and performance parts will be a little cheaper.

funny you should ask this question went to richmond dragway abunch of us 2003roush 1994lighining 1994 hci mustang and the red 2004mach 1 bone stock they were only running 1/8 mile due to rain that day and the mach was the fastest he beat us all.

I installed a 100 shot nitrous kit ddint tell anyone and blew the mach away it was priceless he ran a 13.87 i ran 13.45 he had been walking around work with a lil kick in his step for a month like he was the fastest lol
after i beat em the guy with the roush had put in a gear and a tune and he beat em too lol you could have bought the guy for a nickel lol
but like I said his was bone stock auto and he just left it in drive and ran it so 13.87 is pretty impressive for a stocker auto in drive.
Needless to say his lil kick in his step is gone LOL but I still like his car...

Stock auto here, best time 13.41. Some have reported 13.2-3s but I think those are sticks.

So you speak from experience when you're sayin that the mach 1 is a great car. I wish I had more confidence in believing that I'm getting dinged left and right saying no, don't get that car get a 5.0 I love the mach looks interior and exterior...and that's rare for me cuz I dont like the 99-04 style much.

The Mach will respond to bolt ons MUCH better than it's 2v gt brethren, but if you're guna boost it they both crap out about the same since the Machs don't have forged internals either. Most say around 400rwhp assuming a good tune.

The 5.0 will respond to bolt ons even better and will be cheaper both in initial investment and to mod. If you boost it it will take about the same 400rwhp before splitting.

You can probably get about the same hp out of each NA. The 5.0 you have the option of stroking, or going 351 or 351+stroker.
The 4.6 your kinda stuck with FI if you want 400+.

You could easily buy a nice 5.0 and mod it to beat a Mach for less. Eventually they all become equally expensive.

Wasn't sure about bolt ons for the mach So is400 hp is all that that engine can take before splitting? I don't want to get an engine that will crap after modding. With the 5.0, there's lots of stuff I could do to that vs the mach (being's how they're so expensive initially to buy!). I just don't know haha
