Well ladies and gents,, I am now the proud owner of my first v8. I just got a 95 5.0,lazer red, automatic. The only downside obviously is that it's an auto. I want to swap it out for a manuel, how big of a pain in the *** is that going to be. I am in Iraq still so I will have my wife drop it ata shop in Dallace and have them do it while Im over here. My question is One how much will this cost me< And two would it just be easer to do it myself

It won't be a pain for you, just in your wallet. Do it yourself if you are mechanically (sic?) inclined. Just do plenty of research on the wiring and parts you will need before hand! However, I agree with nmerrill, stay auto!

buy a 3500 stall and a 50 dollar shift kit and you will eat manuals

and a transcooler 60 buks i think

Congrats on the purchase, stay safe I am also in Iraq!!! It's a bummer being in this sand box and reading about all the fun our fellow Mustangers are having!!! I would vote for leaving it an auto, you will truly enjoy it when you install your turbo or s/c!!! Autos just love boosted levels and you will not have stick envy!!

Yes you should have. If you wanted a five speed, i would have kept looking till i found one. If your paying someone to convert it is expensive. If you do convert go with the TKO, i run one with my 351 and it is awesome.

+1 Unless you just want a standard because you think they are 'faster' then don't do it. If you do what the quoted post does you will not have any problems.

I AGREE, STAY AUTO. I SMOKE Manual stangs all the time in my AOD. I SAY GET get the high stall converter, a shift kit, a tranny cooler, some rear gears, AND A VORTECH SUPERCHARGER. when i run hard i manually go thru gears in my auto. just cuz its auto doesnt mean u cant shift each gear on command. some of the fastest pro stangs are auto's.
