What starter should I buy??

RE: What starter should I buy??
92-93 + sn95's use a smaller starter, with a starter-mounted solenoid.
if you wish to use that, you will need to redo quite a bit of wiring.
just to clarify before you ask...
no, you cannot use your current starter solenoid in conjunction with a starter mounted solenoid.

DO you have to use the started mounted solenoid? I know there is one on my starter now to push the gear out(whatever that is called...maybe the helix??) Or can you bypass it?
Are there two solenoids on the newer starters?

maybe i'm wrong but i dont think you are thinking of the right part. the solenoid is where the wiring connects.
your current solenoid is mounted on the fender, near the coil and battery. the key triggers that solenoid to transfer battery power to the 1wire hookup starter that you currently have.
if you buy the "upgraded" starter, you will need to run a constant 12v source to the new solenoid, and make your current solenoid trigger the new solenoid.

RE: What starter should I buy??
I am thinking that there are 2 solenoids, one on the fender to turn the motorand one on the starter to pop out the helix. I guess I am just assuming that, but I thought all ford starter were that way. If that is the case, they are the same right?
I should probably go and look before I assume
