$2500, what to expect???
I live in south Florida, and I am looking for a used 5.0 (most likely a fox) I was wondering what should expect to find as far as miles/condition of the car? I looked at one that most/all of the interrior needed to be d and he was asking $3500, i know its just an asking price.... but I was wondering what kind of conditions to expect to find. I know that there are awesome deals as well as bad deals out there, I'm looking for an average of what to expect...

wel for 2500 dont expect too much really a stock msutang with alot of miles and a body with some dings and in need of a paint job
and thats for a hatch or gt
if you are looking for a notchback get ready to shell out some money, for a stock one with a decient body and all stock and 150K look to spend about 6k-7k, there hard to find and bring a good penny

around here for $2500? good luck, ppl that own them here have them in crappy condition and swear every oil change they did adds to the price. i paid $5k for mine in great condition after searching for 2 years.

yea seriously, if your looking for a daily driver 5.0 then expect to pay more and look for a STOCK one. if you want to build one up, then just look for a straight body because god knows how ppl treat their cars and what ghetto rigs they did to the wiring

Every car that I looked at that was under 4 grand was a ragged out POS. I looked for a while before I found mine. Payed way more than 2500. To a degree you get what you pay for.

RE: $2500, what to expect???
Well, my brother paid I think 1500 for the 90 5.0 I just bought from him. The car was previously wrecked - the body looks straight but you can see the damage in the engine compartment, plus one of the control arms is bent. The engine was recently rebuilt, but a couple things had been hooked up wrong so the car ran really bad. There were a couple huge holes in the floor, the paint is a 10 foot job and the interior was FILTHY. Plus the T5 was toast, second was basically gone in it.
Over the last several months, we put a ton of work in the car. My dad and I rebuilt the trans, bro undercoated the car after he put new floor in it, painted the carpet, glued parts of the interior back together, new front springs, torque boxes, spent a couple weeks sorting out the mess in the engine compartment and now all that is left is to finish the exhaust. There were a ton of extra small things we did that I can't even think of right now.
Luckily we do all our own work so the total for all the work has only been a couple thousand, but I'd hate to think what a shop would have charged for any one of the things we had to do to get this car back on the road. Don't get me wrong, it's all been worth it, there's hardly a part on that car I don't know intamately but it took a lot of work and I'd say that any car you get for 2500 is going to be in similar shape and unless you're willing and able to sink a bunch of extra cash into a fixer-upper, I'd reccommend you spend a little more to get what you really want.

its not hard. i went looking in that same price range and ended up only paying 1800 for my car.
it was bone stock with 142,000 on the clock, clean paint. it had some rust but was definitely garaged most of its life.
keep looking

I paid $1500 for my 90' 5-speed hatch, 113K on the odo. All it needed was an oil change, new tires, tune up, water pump and motor mounts. Interior was 8/10, everything else I'd say a 7/10 besides what needed to be done. Deals are out there, you just never know if you're going to find one or not. I guess I just got lucky.
