I would think the kit has a much heavier duty OD band.

as far as i know, that shift improver kit is just a valve body, and does not come with an OD band. you dont want to shift into OD at wot even if you could because even a good quality OD band will snap when doing that. its not a racing gear, its only there for improving gas miliage

If you get the Bauman AOD kit, there is an option for WOT shifts into OD.
but red85gtconvert said that it will break the od gear
is this true? or will it just shift like any other gear?
Shifting into OD at WOT is a BAD idea. Yes, tehre are options that will allow this. I have a shift kit that makes this possible. But I have essentially disabled that feature so that it does not happen. It will kill the overdrive band. There is no doubt about it. Even kevlar bands can and will break from shifting the car into OD. If you think the old 1-D-1 shuffle is bad, this is exponentially worse.

Can you do it? Sure you can do it. But don't expect to do it too many times before losing OD. And you think 4.10s were bad before? Imagine having no OD at all.

The Bauman kit basicly says to do it at your own risk. They recomend installling the larger OD servo along with the cutback elimination steps included in the kit. If OD slippage is not noticable then band life is not a large issue. However if it is noticable, you can lift slightlybefore the shift and then reapply WOT after the shift happens. Also, if you make the choice to do the conversion, the shift into OD will occur very early at WOT (approx. 4000 RPM), so you have to controll the shift manually.

About 122mph for me at redline. That is with 3.73s. If I had 4.10s, I'd be in trouble at the track. Id top out somewhere near 115 or so at redline. That's not good

what is this 1-d-1 shifting i hear people talk about every once and awhile

so i shift into 1 then redline to drive, then go back to one?
wtf does that do?
