Default Fixed my idle and drivability problems

I recently modded my car with the works. H/C/I and boltons. I was having trouble with the car surging, when I would put in the clutch while sitting at a red light it would eventually stall. I checked for vacuum leaks, checked the timing, fuel pressure, TPS and replaced the IAC but didn't solve the surging. I was thinking of getting it tuned and then I came accross this article in the October 1999 issue of MM+FF and I happened to have a IST air adjuster. I tried it and I am impressed. I thought I could just change the mass air sensor voltage with this thing and thenremove it, but it wassurging without it so itso Ifastened it to thecar. It manipulates the computer because when I first start the car it takes 20 seconds or so for the computer to read what it is telling it and then it runssmooth. Drives like it should. No surging, hunting, or stalling.Apparently youcan even use a mass air sensor meter that isn't calibratedfor the injectors you have and dial it in. Just remove it when you go to wash the car because it may not be waterproof. My mass air meter is a PRO-M calibrated to the 30lb injector I am running. great link!

so does it allow you to make a change inmaf voltage at any rpm? or say if you make a lean adjustment at idle, does itapply that adjustment over the entire rpm band?

I might have worded that a little wrong, butwhat I meant was it worked for me and that might not be the case for everyone. I came accross the thread about the shaky harmonic balancer affecting idle too soyour do your homeworkand makesure you don't have other issues firstand this can be usedas a last resort. I know you don'tcare about whatI says ADDer because I only have 40 posts, but some peoplemight.

This is from the magazine "It helps to iron out those idle surging and hunting problems by altering the mass air's output voltage to compensate for the different air/fuel needs of the engine. It alters the mass air voltage curve accrossits whole curve and sends a modified signal to the computer, either to lean or richen the fuelmisture."
