5.0 T-5 in a 2.3 Turbo
I think I am finally going to do my 5-speed swap in my 2.3 turbo. I have a donor car and all the parts but tranny is beat. I have the bell housing so would a t-5 out of a 5.0 be a good choice. I have both trannys lying around and both need a rebuild. So basically would I be better off getting the 5.0 t-5 rebult and put that in the 2.3 or get the weaker 2.3 tranny rebuilt. The2.3 tranny is not out of a turbo car.

I don't think your gonna be able to find a pilot bearing that will work. If your 5.0 trans is in good shape, the trans in my car right now is out of a 83 turbo coupe. I'd be willing to make a trade.

the inputshaft is differant on a n/a 2.3l t5 tranny, but not too sure if the turbo one has the same. its possible they put the 5.0 version in the turbo cars to start with anyways. becuase a svo almost puts out too much power for a standard 2.3l t5 to handle

thats what i was implying too and yeah gearing is differant on all 3 t5s. the turbo ones were beefed up version as im told. so go with the 5.0 one since either need rebuilt and swap input shafts

why dont you get the 5.0 one rebuilt and then swap input shafts???
