Yeah, that would be a nice core, however, putting it in your '79 and fighting off the smog police may be a chore.

I had a 1977 mustang cobra I put one of those motors in there with a alum intake and 4 barrel carb I could only use the block and heads had to reuse all my brackets and the other stuff other than that it fit rite in Im thinking you wanna take that gear off the bottom of the distributor its stronger or something??for the roller cam other than that mine went rite in im thinking I used my oil pan and I put bolts in the holes inthe head were the smog pump goes that was a long time ago.......good luck they smog those old cars in cali??????

'76 and newer require biannual smog checks.

that sucks on the smog checks!!! they only do a visual checkhere in virginia for now......
