4.6 guy has a question?
Whats up guys. Im not to familiar with the 5.0 family so here is my question. My dad has a 95 F 150 with the 5.0 in it. We are starting to do engine work to it. Do any after market heads fit these blocks like the Gt 40, trick flow, edlebrock and so on. I know the intake manifolds are not the same so would this be a factor also. Can someone put me in the right direction as far as some good mod starts and places to go..Thanks

if its a 5.0 then all the gt40 stuff should work as long as aftermarket types like trickflow, holley, etc
i know the intake lowers should be the same but not sure what the upper is on a 95 f150.

The intakes probably won't work without modifying the induction system simply becausethe truck'sair box is on the driver's side while in the Mustang it's on the passenger side. Heads and everything should work, but I'm not sure how headers would fit though you can probably order 5.0 headers that work in the F-series. I was going to say that cams won't work either but I just noticed my manual shows that from '94 on the F-series' 5.0s have the same firing order as the Mustangs. I'm pretty sure the blocks are identical so any internal stuff like pistons, etc should work but don't quote me on that.

weve started by adding a k&n kit already and we are ordering the edlebrock intake manifold kit, upper and lower...i cant get a answer from summit if it works with other heads...

You don't want to start adding too much mustang stuff to it, as the truck motors are made to produce more torque at a lower rpm, (for truck stuff like pulling, and because the trucks are heavier and theyre geared with 3.55's). The 95 should have the same firing order, but both upper and lower intakes are different. The upper is completely different, and the lower has different top openings... they are like offset rectangles, and the EGR system is differnent as it has a threaded opening on it and it feeds out to an externaltube and to the EGR valve.
I checked out the edelbrock site and they do offer an intake manifold (both upper and lower) for the f150 trucks, should work well, as far as a cam or heads go, you might need to do more research on some truck sites.

I checked out edlebrock cams and they have one with lifters included for it. So my best bet is to buy the manifold and cam set up and have the heads ported &polished with new valve train right..Were not looking to make it 600 hp 10 sec truck he is in contruction and he pulls like a 5000+ loadtrailor everyday. Its already lifted 6 inches on 35x14.50s on 17" wheels so we need some low end trq and some nice hp to make it run without wheezing or panting..Should we upgrade the ignition as well along with a tuner of some sort..And would 3.73s be to much...This is nothing like my 02 GT I dont know what to do to this thing..lol...It does have about 150K miles on it but runs like brand new na my last question would be how bout a 5.0 mustang shortblock and slap on the truck topend would that work? Thanks for all the input guys
