I just purchased these heads off of ebay, $359 + $40 shipping. Looking for opinions as to good or bad deal. They are going on my 89 hatch, along with a polished GT40 upper & lower, shorties, off road H-pipe, 4.11 gears, AOD with a shift kit. Also, Ican't decide on what cam to use with this combo?. Leaning towards a Trick Flow Stage1, would that work well with this combo?. Car is only an occasional driver, with a few trips to the drags. looking for both performance and a lopey idle.

They will be better than stockers, but not by much. From what I remember they are stil iron heads......so they are just as heavy as your stockers. I wouldnt have bought them but its a step over stock. You can port this things for decent numbers, but for what you spend on that you ccan get a set of used TF's or AFRs whatever.

Kind of what I thought, but I've heard from some of the elder members, poeple haveused them with good results. Any porting would be done by myself. I keep hearing about the deals on used TFS and AFR heads, but I'vebeen looking for 4 months, and still haven't been able to grab a pair for less than$800 or$900 bucks, but I just don't have the cash. At least the heads I bought save me $150 - $200 bucks on roller rockers!

Iron GT40s off of a 93 Cobra, includes studs, roller rockers and poly locks

How many miles are on them, might need to replace valve seals

valve seals are cheap, so thats not a biggie...

but I wouldnt have bid on them unless the seller posted an image with the casting number


I just looked at the sellers other items, he has a set of GT40P heads listed at 93 cobra heads.. that makes me a little bit leary about buying stuff from him.

Post up some good pics of the heads when you get them.. so we can make sure you dont get pwned.

Thanks for the input AdderMk2, I value your opinion. From what I've read on both the GT40Ps, and the GT40s, I won't be devastated if they end up being P heads ($399 for P heads with roller rockers doesn't sound too bad?). I do have P heads on myF150 4x4 with a 70 351, andit runs pretty darn good. I'm under the impression if YOU had to choose between the two, you would rather have the GT40s over the P heads?. I'll let you know what they endup being.
