Default Radio wiring question...

Need some help. I'm installing an aftermarket CD player in my 90 mustang. I bought the aftermarket wiring harness so I would not have to cut any wires. My question is I got it all hooked up but no sound from the speakers. On the Ford factory wiring for the speakers I have 5 wires, but 8 on the aftermarket?
Here are the ones in the dash.
Green
Black/White stripe
Blue
White/Red stripe
Purple/ White stripe

Can anyone tell me how these are wired to the speakers?
On the after market radio/harness I have the following wires for the speakers. 8 wires?

Purple = right rear
Purple/Black

Gray = right front
Gray/Black

White = left front
White/Black

Green = left rear
Green/Black

What am I doing wrong?

i coudnt help but notice that your mustang is the EXACT same car as mine
GT, stock, white, red pinstripe, burgundy interior same wheels. mines a 93, but yours still looks great man.I have a tiny bit of rust directly beneath the spoiler, and the ugly dealership label that i havnt gotten around to taking tho.

If you had the premium sound, those aren't the plugs you want to plug into. A bit further up in the dash you'll see another set of plugs that look just like the ones in your hand. Disconnect them from where they are plugged in. Those are the plugs you want to use. They are strapped to the lower dash frame using a differnt style zip tie. Looking at the radio opening, they would be found to the upper right of the opening. The plugs you are using are going through the factory amp, and you don't want that. The other plugs in the dash are wired to the rest of the system.

If your car didn't have premium sound, ignore this post.
Good luck.

How do you tell if you have "premium sound"?

Pretty much all GT's had it... usually you'll have speakers in all 6 locations and there will be a factory amp bolted the the floor behind the radio. (its a weird looking metal thing with wires comming out of it)
