Default POwer loss 4grand+ after Cobra intake install

Hey fellas, after installing a cobra intake on my 93 5.0 5spd I am having a power lossat and past 4 grand full or light throttle, a power loss that sounds like a gargle through the exhaust. Motor is stock with full exhaust. Also have new plugs wires cap and rotor. Engine performs great, just after 4 grand.

Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas to resolve or pin-point?

Also, then the power loss occurs there is a fluctuation on the tach of around 200-400rpm + and - . More noticable at mild throttle than full throttle, but there as well.

Timing was initially at 14 degrees after Cobra manifold install, now bumped down to 12 degrees to test for changes. No changes betweenthe 14 and 12 degree. The distributer is properly installed. Max's out at 14 degrees, but installed well. I had some help witht he distributer and was assured that the install was safe and correct.

sounds dumb...but make sure that your mass air flow sensor is super clean...mine looked clean with the "naked eye" and i looked at it with a magnifying glass and it was still dirty. my car was doing the same thing...kind of just bogging out at 4 grand.

I have matterof fact and itis clean. It is a 75 granatelli MAF that at one point in time had the outlet going to TB bent with two creases like the thing got crunched. I have pretty much straightned that out... but I will check again in a few minutes. 3PM Chicago.

Yea, that MAF does have a couple of small dimple creases still. being plastic I warmed it up with a lighter and tried to straighten more, but the inlet and outlet are not perfectly round. Re-installed run and stwith test ill have the issue. This run the issue popped up at 4500rpm but that was just this run. Consistent within two runs.

Do you think I should replace the MAF with another aftermarket 75mm?

Any other considerations/ ideas?
