Juanizzle, you can't go wrong with a XE Comp Cam. I would go with either the 274 or 282. It depends how hard you want to turn your engine and what you are looking to do. If street crusing is your main thing with occasional track time I'd go with the 274. If the track is the primary thing or just ultimate power then the 282 would be my reccomendation.

If it's a short block I would buy a Kuntz & Co 364 cu block on the BOSS 302 motor. If it's a long block.........I would save more money and buy a Kuntz & Co long block.

thats what i would do, i have a buddy out here that runs a d&d 347 in his street stock, and has no problems at all out of it, and he has about 15 races on it.

There is no doubt that aKuntz & Co engine will be a nice, reliable piece, but I don't thinkthat even ashort bock can be had for $5000 from them. Any engine with an aftermarket block will be in the $6000-$7000 range.

I'd probably buy a shortblock from fordstrokers.com. get a nice set of heads and a custom cam from someone good, let me try to break it down
2000 for a liberator 331 with steel crank upgrade
1400 set of afrs
400 custom cam
Looks like a hell of a longblock for under 4000, pretty similar to an earlier post. You could probably beat the 2k shortblock price if you shopped locally and hunted for deals. I still get surprised by what people buy, plan on using for 6 months, and sell a year later still in the box for half what they paid for it.

I'd save my money on the steel crank upgrade when using a stock block. A good nodular crank will take more than the block can handle. That's a good combination.

I agree with 92Grey on this deal.
It's the blocks that fail, not the cranks.........
