I need a taller cowl for my 85 GT. Should I do a 4" bolt on or 4" windshield cowl pin on??

This the only winshield cowl pic I have. If anyone has some better ones please post...THANKS

Looks aren't as important as function. The only reservation I have about the bolt on is that there is a big opening in the back and at the track I run without an air cleaner.

Pin on hoods are a PITA.
Lifting them on and off gets old quick.

I liketo the windshield....And I did notice somethingon my 9 second chevelle(trapped 138 in the 1/4).It had a 7 inch outlaw cowl.I keep getting fuel laying in the back of the intake manifold and on the windshield after a 1/4 mile pass..I was puzzled by this...and was told by a few that cowl hoods(with no air cleaner)(The flow of air over the carb and exitsover the windshield)can pull fuel from the carb at high speed..air cleaner fixed this problem..andpicked E.Tand MPH...
So...to the shield and with an air cleaner...Better yet RAM air system..
Also scoops diff make a car faster....mine? almost 2 tenths in the 1/4 faseter than a cowl hood..

Good points. I am unable to run an air cleaner anytime right now because the 2.5" cowl won't clear even a drop based air cleaner. AGAIN, if anyone has any pics of the windshield cowl on an 85-86 Fox, please post...THANKS
