Default max rpm
whats max rpm on an 85 5.0. would a highlift cam make it higher?

Lift doesn't exactly make the rpm range of the cam go up. Duration is a bigger determining factor to rpm range. A stock 85 5.0 max usable rpm is no more than 5200. Turning it anything higher is useless. A bigger cam with stock heads isn't going to be a big improvement.
