RE: nitto 555r's
i know you didnt ask... but get m/t's

RE: nitto 555r's
i love my 555rs, no complaints at all...hook very well...only gets swirly when you want her too...seems to be good in the rain..only one incident, started off in second, accelerated lightly and she went sideways (i was making a turn), but other than that, they are great. i'd reccomend them to anyone. GREAT life out of them too
m/t's are better though, for traction at least. idk abotu rain, and they def dont last as long |
RE: nitto 555r's
I have them and love them. In warm weather they totally hook! When it is cold (Winter cold) they don't grab as well! I was really amazed in warmer weather though! There were times I could not get them to spin at all. The seat pant G Meter said - Holy Crap!
Not sure about longevity but they are pretty awesome so far! |
RE: nitto 555r's
ya i dont doubt that the M/Ts are more sticky...but im just lookin for somethin that i can drive..but if the need be it will hook..with the sh*titomos that are on it now ibasically have no 1st gear. I figure with the 5spd, 3.73 and some tires that hook, it should be nice. and i realize im no where near the power level that actually (needs) a sticky tire that wide..but its the rims i got..so w/e....and ya i dont plan...on drivin in the rain that much if at all...but if i should get caught somewhere in the rain, id like to be able to get home

RE: nitto 555r's
then the 555rs are your tire. my car is my DD (only drive it on weekends now since im at colelge during the week, come home to work) but it was my DD from when i bought it till early september...about 3k miles, no sign of wear yet

RE: nitto 555r's
I love mine also. I'd buy them again without hesitation, they are wearing great for a DR and when you heat them at the track they get a lot stickier, not to mention thier prices in 17s are really good for the performance I think. I've driven my car in the rain several times with them and have never had a problem. Just for comparison they are sticky enough to break an axle in a stock '03 GT.

RE: nitto 555r's
sweet...thanks for the help guys..ya i read somewhere that the nitto was like the hardest ..soft tread tire..making them stick well but still hold up...and plus there priced really well for the size i need and ya..they just look cool too lol...
ya thats kinda how i am...i drive my dd to college every day..mustang sits at home...and then when i get bored or whatever ill take the mustang...come next summer..ill be at work most the time and thats only like 5 blocks so i could actually ride a bike..lol which helps with gas money..and this laziness bug i caught lol.....oh ya.what do you guys run for pressure for the street in yours? |
RE: nitto 555r's
I have 30lbs in mine for the street, ran 24lbs at the track but people go a lot lower, i was just tired of waiting for the air come out. at 24lbs at the track with the addition to my 3.55 gears i picked up .4 sec in the 1/4 with an okay launch...

RE: nitto 555r's
sounds great...ya i never got to make it to the track before my gears..n i probably wont make it before the new tires...so i wont have anything to compare too...but ya the last time we went...was the weekend my gears were gettin put in..plus it was with the aode..which at the time was slippin...so it wouldnt have been pretty even if i woulda gone..i realize im goin off topic here..but what should i expect give or take....with short throw, the new tires, gear, intake, and hopefully being able to drive it decently lol...
