What to do with 6 grand?
Hey, fellas. Long time no see. It looks like I may have about 6k to blow on car stuff. I may cash in the 5.0 and buy a '98 cobra, or I may sink the money into my 5.0...haven't decided yet. The 5.0 has about 125k miles on it, and runs like a champ. If I keep the 5.0, this iswhat I want to do to the car. Please tell me how much of this I can get for 6k, and what you would do. Thanks.
A paint job at least as good as the original--car needs some mild body work, and front and rear bumpers. Heads, intake and exhaust Suspension Tranny Brakes Tires Keep in mind that I'll be paying someone to do the work, as I am no longer able to wrench due to a neck injury. Any input would be appreciated. |

Slap a $3k turbo kit on bone stock motor and make 400rwhp

LOL. Thanks for the reply, Rbarn. I would, except I need reliability above performance. Plus, I'd still need all the accompanying mods. Good idea though.

ORIGINAL: 89MustangGT50 I say paint it or do HCI As for the Cobra, I'll see what's available when the time comes. I just figured Icould get more fox out of 6k than I could Cobra out of 9k...if you know what I mean. Nice, low mileage,98 Cobras are a bit expensive around here. |
RE: What to do with 6 grand?
wow, its been a while man. uh with 6k, and I would ditch the 5.0 and go 351. If I were to stay small block that is. ;)

RE: What to do with 6 grand?
Thanks, IH8. Yeah, it has been a while. I've been on the injured list--two herniated discs in my neck, and nerve compression down both arms...from using the computer at work, if you can believe it. One suggestion to you cats that use the computer all day: Use good posture and ergonomics. I have surgery next week.
At any rate, I have no problem with the 302. Also, we can't change our motors here in CA...as far as I know, it won't pass emissions. My goals are to build a clean, reliable ride that runs in the lower 13s. I'm no racer, but I do like a quick car. Cleanliness and reliability first though. Thanks again. |
