very easy to keep em quiet when need to. you can get a set of electronic or manual true dumps. its a y section of exaust that has a baffle on the bottom of the y and in your case you install it just behind the flows then continue on out the back with normal exhaust. when the baffle is open the exhaust exits through it at the bottom of the Y and when closed it continues on to the back. i know pypes brand exhaust makes the electronic ones which are controlled by push button but you can also get them that are manual which have cables that you run to the interior of the car and push closed and pull open via a handle connected to the cable.

is it just a "fix it ticket" or what? cuz there are a few ways to rig the exhaust to make it quieter for a short while
is it the Wrap the t-shirt around part of the pipe thing or something?
yea kinda, or you can use steel wool. that works pretty good

the biggest reason he could have cited you the ticket without metering the car is because in most states... dumped exhaust is illegal. I know for a fact that the RI state law says that al exhaust must exit the body of the vehicle AFTER the rear axle. So by taking that literally. the pipe has to be at the end of the body, and it has to be after the axle.. therefor... dumps are illegal
