I own a 1990 LX 5.0 but it's auto and I want a 5-speed. Now my question is this: Should I invest in a 5-speed conversion on my LX or spend $2000 on an SVO and build up its 2.3T? I'm drawn to the SVO, it's more unique, plus it's already a 5-speed. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I'd keep the SVO factory stock as they are rare and worth more.... JMHO

build the lx and either store the svo or use as a daily driver if miles arnt too horrible.. imo

I have never been in a SVO turbo four, but I gotta think that you miss the torque from the LX when you are not in it!

Shelty: That's what I was thinking about doing. I've already got a '94 Formula with about 400 horsepower, so I don't really need another fast V8. The SVO I've got my eyes on is in very restorable shape, so I think I'll take your advice and go with the SVO; returning its luster will be a joy.

I had an 86 gt and now drive an 84 svo thats puttin down about 250-60 hp at the wheels and all I can say is that the svo is way more fun to drive than my gt was and quite a bit faster for less money. I may buy another 5.0 eventually but the svo has to be my favorite car

SVO's can be made to go just as fast as a 5.0 or faster.
There was a turbo 2.3 '79 Mustang in one of the Mustang magazines a few months ago running single digit 1/4 miles.

^^^ yeah, I think the guys best time was like an 8.7 or something like that. Thing did crazy wheel stands too

if you already have a v-8 car go for a change and get the svo..but build it right so it'll handle the gosh awful amounts of boost you plan to give it or you'll pop head gaskets left and right
