I have a 94GT and she has 110K and the only problem that i have is that the damn cd player skips or tends not to see the CD's and plays when it wants to. That is all, no mechanical problems.

I have you all beat, I have over 275,000++ miles on my '92 stang with original engine! Mom bought it new with something like 2 miles on it. She put about 175,000 on it. It's kinda cool to see the odometer turn to all zeros twice! For about a year the speedo cable was broke and it racked up another 20,000 or so. For the first 200,000 miles she ran with mobile 1 synthetic (20 w50) with OCI set at about 15-20,000 miles. After that I guess some of my hot rodding caused it to use a bit more oil and to leak around front and rear seal. I switched it back to dino and to 10 w30 to help with the leaks and to provide a bit more oil on all the parts. I fixed the seals in the front and rear. My main oil loss now is out of my dip stick tube because of the blow by. It still runs fine to this day, it uses about a quart of oil a month and does not smoke. I could tell you everything that has been done to this car and it has not let me down TOO many times. Ford made a good motor, some of the electronics and other parts on the car could have been made to higher standards. The ford 5.0 is just like the jeep 4.0...solid, reliable, and it's been around forever.

115k on mine and it still runs strong. Rebuilt the upper just for the hell of it. Eventually a 100 shot will go on it till it blows.

Mine had a cam lobe round off at 113k... and i think in the long time it took me to fix it the rod bearings developed issues but if so it's my fault for letting it sit with crap in the oil pan so long. Other than that (for the roughly 10,000 miles i put on it) it's been running great. I took it from Riverside, CA to Phoenix, AZ and had an awesome time driving it.

I think Ford engines that end in .0 are purty long lasting (3.0, 4.0, and 5.0) If they have regular oil changes and normal maintanance they should all be able to get 200K out of em. 250K is also very achievable. But you never know... but if you overheat one, blow a head gasket, neglect it they could last a lot less.
Yeah there is truth in the X.0 theroy:
Dad's 3.0 Taurus- 163K miles , Family's 4.0Aerostar - 253K miles, My 5.0- 139K miles, stock clutch, prevoius owner did repalce the water pump, other than that, nothing beside a switch or something very, very minor.

The4.0 and the 5.0 don't burn oil, either.

Cleanfitty: that is one of the cleanest, best looking Foxes I have seen. Keep up the good work.

well the motors... I have a 3.0 in the truck and hear nothing but good things, it' still pretty low mileage. Guy I know drove one with bad valves for another 100k on top of whateven he had, said he couldn't kill it...The '93 5.0 only has 70k on it right now too. As far as the cars, one thing that stood out for me as far a nostalgia was the smell of my buddies '92 GT that we used to race around in while we were in college. The cloth/tweed interior just had this smell to it, and it was funny b/c when I was searching for the '93 GT I ran in to a couple of cars that had that same pungent (not in a bad way though) interior smell. wish mine had that!

mine has 167k on it i beat on it regularly and have had no trouble . doesn,t smoke doesn't tick runs perfect, all the fords i have had have never given me any trouble, i would much rather have a 5.0 than a 4.6 my buddy had a 4.6 stang and it gave him nothing but problems.

93 5.0 lx. 114k miles, and my buddy, and i are taking it from jersey to california tomorrow. this will be the second time, and second time this year. i put in a rebuilt motor at 86k miles which was in april. so i have driven it 28k in 8 months. replaced tie rods both inner, and outter when i broke the drivers side inner at 48k, clutch at 50k[just an upgrade], exhaust at 62k[upgrade also] radiator at 71k from a blown out patch that was done before i owned the car, fuel pump, and relay at 73k, motor at 86[oil leak seized it], and starter solenoid at 96k. two tune ups, and two sets of brake pads, and a set of shoes. had almost 28k when i bought it august 11th 2000. best car i have ever owned. it's putting out 675 horsepower easy, 11.7 second 1/4 mile best time, cam, performance exhaust, 4;10s, performance clutch, plugs, wires, turbo, intake, most performance parts courtesy of summit racing.burns about a quart of oil on the rebuilt motor every 4500-5500 miles. original alternator, water pump, shocks/struts, front end other than tie rods, starter, axle, power steering pump,t-5,among other things. most special car to me sentimentally. i wouldn't even sell it for $30k cash! not even $100k cash! it's actually priceless. i got my 03 mach 1 putting out more, but the 5.0 is more important to me sentimentally. just a little bit more.
