87 head unit removal
I have an 87 Mustang GT. I have just purchased an aftermarket head unit for the radio. I can't seem to get the factory tape deck head unit off. i do not have the removal tool but i was wondering if anyone new any tricks that might work. If anyone can help me please do! Thanks, Dylan

RE: 87 head unit removal
Well i would rather not mess anything up because my car is in near mint conditon and for an 87 that is hard to find...i would like to keep all original parts incase i want to put them back in one day when i sell my baby....but thank you for replying

RE: 87 head unit removal
well i got that hint from someone else and i tried the coat hanger and i pushed it in there and i felt a little pin that felt like it had a spring in it and it pushed in just barely and then i tried pushing the hanger to the side and then pulling the unit out.. am i doing something wrong?

RE: 87 head unit removal
you have to push the clothes hangers all the way in.
make hangers are in a u shape and it helps if the ends of the u are the same lengths.
then just pull the driver side one torwards the drivers door and vice versa.
while those are pulled torwards the door, pull the radio straight out.
you may have to wiggle it a lot but thats how we got my friends tape player out of his 87.
