ok it can be done for close to 900, but try for 1200 or so

if you dont find intake+heads for less then 500 then buy a complete motor from a junkyard for 500, then get a cam... comps are about 250, and im very happy with mine... you could grab an e cam or what not for cheaper

you WILL need new valve springs locks and retainers... you NEED them w. a cam swap, no questions asked.

headbolts, yea stockers dont reuse... get arp.... u can reuse them...

remember i told you, its gonna cost 4-500 to do ur cam

so even at best ur at 900 right now, never mind the 100 for gaskets, 70ish for fluids, and atleast 50 for misc ****, timing chain is 20 bucks...

so shoot for 1200-1500 and its very doable

ya and he costs a fortune, im trying to get an h/c/i fully done for 900 bucks. and i think it might be possible now.
Ill tell you all something, Ford Performance will always cost more than Chevy, sometimes 59% more.

Simply because the demand is so High.

What could happen if you use the same head bolts. We did my buddys h/c/i with all the same bolts with no problem.
just like someone already said, torque to yield. AKA they WILL stretch. when you use stretched bolts they dont hold torque, when torque is not held you blow your head gasket! i speak from experience on this one. i wish someone would have told me why, then i would not have re used mine[:@].

as far as a budget goes.... good luck. i had to spend 1100 bucks for my CAM swap because of misc. stuff i needed to replace. of course i could have done it the cheap and easy way and not buy the water pump, smog pump, timing chain, radiator, new hoses, belt, pushrods, lifters, and much more. but if i did not buy that stuff i would be replacing it all now. why in the hell do a job twice if you dont have to.

do it right the first time, just save.

PS. im doing my third head swap only im putting on AFRs this time. i know how frustrating it can be to do something like that so this time i went out and bought a camera and im making a how-to-video. if you want i can send it to you for a couple of bucks.

or you could just upload it to my server and so i dont have to pay anything lol. And then i can host it for everyone to download. Depending on how big the video is, you might have to leave your computer on overnight or for 2 days so i can get it.

by the way just a little update i found an entire explorer setup. Upper/lower gt40 intake complete with throttle body, iac, egr, gt40p's with everything on them to bolt right up *will be buying the trickflow spring package for 130 from summit since im changing cams* and also includes newer gt40p headers all for 500shipped to my door. Its an amazing deal!

They are both torqued very similar. I was talking about the point of strength.

Do I recommend it, nope

Will they work just fine? 99% of the time, yep.

hey 5spd gt, i was wondering if you might be able to do me a favor, this is kinda out there but i would really appreciate it. i cant find all of those model numbers on summit for some reason. So i was wondering if you could add it to a shopping cart and send me it, or just post links to everything i will need to do the h/c/i swap. Like i said, i will be using a gt40 upper and lower, gt40p's, headers, and im now thinking of a b303 cam, i will also be getting trickflow spring package for 130.

if you could post links to literally everything i need to do the swap i would really appreciate it, or if anyone has the time to that would be nice. I need every gasket, timing chain, all of it.

I just want to be able to buy everything, take it to the mechanic and have him install it all. Like many of you know, i am injured so i will not be doing the work myself, thanks so much for everyones time.
