Default h/c/i

Well its about time i do my h/c/i however i have a TON of questions. Goal is to get the h/c/i done and installed for 900dollars.

I have found an explorer upper and lower for 165 shipped which leaves me 735dollars.
Im thinking i can pick up a pair of gt40s for about 300 dollars leaving me 435.
Im figuring i can pick up a cam for about 150 leaving me 285.
install is 175, so with 110 dollars left over, what will i need to buy to get this all on the right way.

Let me know if this is reasonable or not. Thanks for the help guys.

what cam do you guys think i should go with on the cheap that will work with gt40 heads and gt40 intake?

your forgetting head bolts, gaskets, fluids,rtv.. etc

and the only cams you find around 150$ or abc cams which are outdated

i was thinking maybe i could get a cheaper comp cam, or maybe a trickflow cam. I know im skipping out on the throttle body and maf, but that can be done at a later time as thats pretty easy.

There are tons of extra things like mentioned above and also things that could be replaced depending on mileage, etc. I don't think you're leaving enough extra money for random stuff (head bolts, all the gaskets, rtv, tack n seal, etc). With stronger springs you'll want hardened pushrods, should probably replace the timing chain, maybe the water pump, maybe the lifters while you're in there. Also a good time to replace the harmonic balancer. I think you're cutting your budget too short, you need extra money for random things that pop up.

do that, you are real clsoe $$ wise for the h/c/i, as you already mapped out...a few more hundred bucks, and you're there...keep saving

I don't remember what year it started but in later fox bodies when efi came into plan and not sure what exact year it started but they used torque to yiel bolts...so no heads bolts wern't reusable........anyway save your money 92cobra and wait unti you can afford the rest of the h/c/i and supporting mods

Don't ever reuse head bolts. At least I never have.
