Default 302 ID...

...need help to figure out what this thing is sittin' in my garage!!!

i found some numbers cast in the block above the starter area:

EOAE
D3C

DOESN'T MEAN SQUAT TO ME!!

On the rear top-side of the intake along one of the runners there is a number cast in to it, (intake might be aluminum?): RF-E3ZE-9425-FC

There is a Holley 4-BBL bolted to the intake also...Double roller timing chain and 2-bolt mains...

As far as I know...this motor is STOCK & was running when pulled.

PLEASE HELP!!!...what is it?????

could be a motor out of a 83 mustang...I assume that it's a 302 if the intake is aluminum and has a ford logo on it then it's most likely a 83-85 h.o 4 barrel intake = nothing special as is the motor itself[&:]

wheel it out in the light & get a better look at it & see if I can find anything else...maybe pull a valve cover & see whats under there & look for some numbers...

YOU HAVE and I am 100 percent positive a 83 mustang motor how do I know.??? I have the exact same casting numbers on a block sitting on my stand here at work with the exact same casting numbers on the intake..I bought it last year from a guy out of his 83 mustangand rebuilt it and is ready to go in a bronco II of mine when I get time to do the conversion......but if it's all stock it was rated a 175 hp from the factory and it is a flat tappet cam block nothing special...but a good motor for a project like what I'm using it for

mjr46...hey man...THANKS...at least I know what I'd be starting with! Still haven't had time to pull the stand out & turn itaround to get a look at the left side. Seem the only parts missing are the starter & oil pan.

Now I need to get some numbers of the 302 in the '56 F100 & see exactly what that is ...I dude we bought it from said the 302& C4 came from a 1972 F-series pickupdonor...

I be back when I climb under that little sucker to try & find some numbers...I want to say THANKS EVERYONE!!!

Taking the E3ZE portion of the part number.

E = '80-'89 decade
3 = Year, so '83
Z = Mustang
E = Engine Grouping

Mjr has got it for you.

rockher_man; if you are real seroius about building a 302, use the block that came from the early F series truck.
There a lot more metal in those blocks than anything later..

tinman...thats what I was thinkin'...The '83 doesn't seen to be anything "real" special anyway...maybe I can use "some" parts ( carb, intake, or whatever...) off it or just get rid of quick for cash to use on the '56...

I gotta get under the '56 & get some numbers off the block to see what I'm starting with...pervious owner if kindafuzzy on some stuff...

The C4 will be good enough for this ride with a kit installed...I think....

I'd kinda like to build something like THIS: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/1999/10/400horse/
