Default Summit build, 95 gt

I saw this in the jan-feb summit catalog and looked it up online. Its a 95 gt that summit is building. It was done in three stages and shows dyno number after each stage. Its just interresting so i thought i would post it. It contradicts some of the things that people talk about on hear such as a after market cam on a stock engine and underdrive pullies actualy doing somehting.

It was nice to see honest dyno numbers for once.

i read that summit article too. what an embarassment. they made about 60 more HP over stock but LOST about 5LBS ft of torque or something like that. thats sucks. after reading that i would never buy trick flow stuff. if a companys hci looses torque and modestly increses HP, count me out... not to mention all the other bolt on mods.

How do you figure it lost 5lbs of torque? You got to realize why the GT has as much torque stock as it does. The E7's have some tiny *** ports and valves making lots of low end power but it runs out of breath up top. You stick on a nice set of aluminum heads with bigger ports and valves, add a cam and intake that further pushes you power band up, you'll make alot more power but that bottom end torque won't be the quite the same, it'll be higher in the RPM range. It's just the rules of the game.

I completely see what your saying eclipse, but you got to believe that the torque should still be higher just at a higher area of the powerband.

i personally feel that the final stage 3 numbers are like 30rwhp off from what ive seen in real life but on the other hand why would they lie about such crappy numbers?? why spend over 3 grand to make 275rwhp??? kind of dumb.

It did make more torque then stock... It put 283 torque to the wheels. Stock the car is rated at 285 torque at the flywheel.

Pretty much all setups you go with heads/cam wise on a 302, the HP will surpase the torque. Just the way it works. Now if your a big torque guy, a Kenny Bell or shot of N20 will fix that for you.
