i just built my first motor with my dad and im goin to taking it to the track hopfully this friday but i wanted to see what u guys thought about it first..

its the stock 302 block bored .30 over

edelbrockperformer rpm air gap
speed pro cam .472/.496 (hydrolic) as well as the lifters
speed pro flat top pistons with molly rings
cleaned stock heads
bbk short headers with no cads with flowmaster super 40's 2.5 in all the way
HCI distributer with 8mm ign. wires and ngk plugs

as far as the drive train stock t-5 with 5.0 pro short shifter
stock drive shaft
3.77 gears and upgraded clutches
we also switched aroundclutches were in a different order to make both tires lock alot easier
ill also be running et slicks on the back
and had full race suspension in the back
i think the car wieghs about 3250 with me in it

my estimate was a 13.2 in the 1/4... are my hopes up to high or does that sound like it could happen

no that sounds a bit hi

13.50-13.60 is prob right on the money

is it a hatchback ?

w/ a full slick you might get closer on a 5k launch , but i still don't better than a 13.40

but even w/ that.......be happy w/ it, and go from there, you built a motor w/ your pops and you guys will have a blast

I have a similar set up in my 92 but with a performer intake and ported stock heads and a f-cam and 3.45 gears and with slicks the best I've pulled in it was 13.69@99..the stock heads are what's gonna hold you back......

Good heads and you can get low 13's on street rubber. Check out my sig, a 3.00 gear but h/c/i + supporting mods. It wasn't quite tuned right and was having suspension issues so it couldn't launch for jack. And that was with a 3.00 gear on worn street tires at 40psi.
