Default Thinking about Top End Packages

Just like the titile says, I was looking through my Summit Catalog while on the *throne* And seen the Edelbrock Performer Top end kit For around 1750 dollars for 400 HP package. My question is, could I build a 400+ hp top end for the same price or is this a pretty good deal. Keep in mind its for a Non Roller block!!!

See I was thinking that as well but I tried to price together a kit that was tappet and flat top friendly. I already have 69 windsor heads but The cam and intake are holding me back so i figured if I had it this far apart might as well look into some shiny stuff!

Yes I got it as a 306 with ported/polished 69 windsor heads and a comp xtreme energy cam running for 300 bucks off my brother. It was better then no motor at all and I figure if I do go to roller im going windsor so this should be fine for now. Also when I do go windsor I only have to get a cam and valve springs and im good to go!

I would think you could do as good or even better with some properly matched used parts for less money .

See I was thinking that as well but a certain member on the forums says * they are junk and you are limited to your choices of cams* In all reality I should throw a roller motor together but I was going to wait to get a roller windsor when I went that route and just have fun with this motor for now.

well in all honesty that sounds like a good set up... i like their attention to details, like the 7deg locks, not 10deg...

nothing wrong w. flat tappet at all, im just saying you COULD do a retrofit roller if you wanted to
