Default Setting the Timing In the Timing Chain?

I just got the timing chain and cam today, the timing chain gives me three options, leave it at 0 degrees or 2 degrees in advance for earlier valve timing, and 2 degrees retard for later valve timing. Im im putting an E-303 camand GT-40P heads.

Retard= more top end Advance= more bottom end, i say just install it straight up since its a pretty basic build.

Exactly, It just moves your powerband up or down.

leave it straight up at 0..why cause most cams have a few degrees advance already built into them..and if you install it in the retard or advance position..you'd better check for PTV....or else you could have a unhappy marriage

If you install it straight up just put the distributor in so the rotor is at tdc on number one cylinder facing number one on the cap, someone gave me a picture of it on here when i was doing mine, just do a search i think it was joel

You need to get the #1 piston at the top of the compression stroke and then install the disty so the rotor is pointed at the #1 spark plug wire. That will get it close, adjust as necessary.
