plans for my motor
I have finally decided to do a gt40 build up since my junkyard has some 5.0 explorers. So I will take the heads and intake and the cost should be $84. I've been doing some reading and 1.7rr's and steeda #19 cam seems to be a good combo. Would the junkyard have any useable 1.7rr's? Doubt there will be any cobras there. If I go this route, can I use the stock pushrods? And should I have the heads freshened up(springs, any machine work)?
This will all be going onto a stock 91 block with 100k miles.

if you get the heads and intake for that cheap, a good port job would be nice and if your gunna run a different cam it would be a good idea to match the springs to the cam. i was talking to this guy who owns a machine shop and instalation place and he was sayin how by just doing the cam alone, your not getting the full effect with out the correct springs.

RE: plans for my motor
ok, so ive been reading a couple of threads about this... and it sounds pretty interesting. what all would you need to do to make the intake, heads, and throttle body work?? i know you mill down the heads .030 so you dont lose compression, but if ya runnin almost a stock motor in my case which is C.A.I, high flow thermo, 16 inch electric fan, flotech shorties, and 2.5 inch exhaust 3inch x pipe and a dump before the rear tires and thats it. what would i need to run these bad boys after ported and freshened up? also what kinda increase in power would this be? the only thing i could guess is more fuel which would prolly be 24lb injectors with a 190lph pump and maybe a regulator. plz help with this cuz im really looking into doing this set up. thanks
