Default gas milage

I see all of the posts lately on gear changes and the people who post say they still get good gas milage. I don't get good gas milage I get like 230 miles per tank. My car is stock except i have 355 gears and bbkheaders and flows. The other stuff that I have done is all suspension stuff. I have done a tune up recently frp plug wires. motor craft plugs cap and rotorchanged the fule filter still not getting good milage. my speed sensor recently took a dump and the cable snapped but I didnt think this coulld affect the milage becase I cannot tell what I'm getting anayways. I got the 230 miles before this snapped just incase your wondering how I could tell the miles per tank. What do you guys think? how can I getbetter milage?I do like to drive fast but I dont hit WOT all of the time.

My only solution is...

You own a mustang. Deal with it.

I get about 190 all Freeway.

on a mild built motor that used to be in my 85 I got 260 per tank when I drove it back from out west..but on a newer motor this past summer I got about 220 on a hopped up 11 to 1 306 that ran low 12's and it was carbed........if your mass air..try cleaning the mass air sensor..and run a koeo/koer test and see if the ecm detects any fuel system issues ..like with o2 sensors or vice versa

I get 22 MPG most of the time thats over 320 milesper tank, worest case Ive seen was20 MPG, I check the MPG on every fillup, that wayI could teel if something is going wrong.
I have a91 GT all stock except for the aluminum radiator. I keep her very well tuned and I drive 300 miles a week back and forth to work

What is a koer test?

I also get poor mileage on my 1991, about 215 per tank or (15.5 miles per gallon). I have the timing advanced as far as possible without pinging (14BTDC) I set the throttle position sensor to the minimum volt setting possible (about .95 at idle), the thermostat is a 195 model, air filter is clean and mass air flow sensor wire has been cleaned- no missing, no codes, no obvious problem.
It runs a bit like the exhaust is plugged - not free to rev like my chevy or Dodge small block.

My specific questions are:
[blockquote]
Has anyone changed out their cats to some aftermarket brand and then improved their gas mileage?
Has anyone replaced their O2 sensors and improved their gas mileage?[/blockquote]

here this is what it is:
A koer test is the ecm's self test initiated on command by you to verify the integrity and functionality of the emissions components and injection system and can help locate drivability issues when the ecm sets a code for a malfunction detected in a system....after the test if there are any hard faults acode will be blinked out via the check engine light..or it'll indicate system passes..follow instructions of the test and you'll be fine

21 mpg on the freeway under 3k setting the cruise for me,

if you get city miles in there expect it to dump way off. and if your romping on it a bit losing more.

i'll burn 1/4 tank at the dragstrip making 8 passes....thats like 1/2 mpg right ? that might be an overexaggeration, but it moves quite a bit

i have 4.10's too, you should not see any significant drop from 3.55's , thats hardly off from stock. some aod's are stock 3.27 and they still get 22 or so
