Engine ideas. 302 or 331? Heads?

RE: Engine ideas. 302 or 331? Heads?
Then I don't have a good rod / stroke ratio... Even the 5.4 rod with the 3.4 stroke isn't that great. Now that I'm thinking about it again that was the other issue I had with it.
Probably doesn't matter and I'm making too big of a deal about it... But I think I'll do the 331...
So 331, AFR 185 heads, Cobra intake, XE274 cam?
Getting there. Can I run this with 24# injectors and the factory computer or should I look for an A9L and recal the mass air? How about the injectors? I'm planning on getting new ones anyway, 24's or 30's?
Thanks,
David

the ONLY reasons to go 331 over a 347 is if you DONT want to make as much power, or you are racing in a class with cube limitations..
either way.... 331 = fail!

yeah your not gonna win this 331 battle with adder.
just go with the 347, the price is the same for both, but with the 347 you get more cubes.
and the oil burning issue is long gone. so please just go 347.
but you'll need 30lb injectors and i would recomend getting a new maf like a pmas.

306 with AFR 185's and Custom cam with true 6,500 rpm shift points
will get you what you want.
www.fordstrokers.com can put together a nice long block with those parts
well with in your budget.

"rod/stroke ratio is irrelevant!"
In general it's not, the question is there a difference between a 1.58 and 1.66 ratio? Stock 302 is 1.69.
I've been told that someone did a test compairing a DSS 331 to a DSS 347 with everything else being the same and the 331 had more HP, but the 347 had more TQ. It's second hand info, but it makes sense. There is less frictional loss at higher RPM with the 1.66 R/S ratio.
Sounds like it's a non-issue in real life. I've heard from 331 owners and 347 owners that both where happy and had no problems or oil issues or anything like that.
So Cobra computer or A9L?

the only time the r:s ratio theory can be argued is when you are trying to squeeze every last possible hp out of the motor...
but when it comes down to a normal street build like you are considering.... it doesnt matter!
