Default Help With Pony Wheels

Figured I would get more help in here than wheels and tires. Anyway I found a set of four chrome pony rims with tires for my car. They look good but the owner said they have "slight" pitting in a small area. .Is this something that could spread or rust through the wheel? He said that you could feel it, but not see it in a picture because the camera would have to be too close. I've never had chrome wheels before so I don't know much about them.

I was also going to invest in a Mother's powerball and polish to see what that could do. Any input would help. Here are the pics let me know what you think.

As long as you keep them polished you should be ok. The mother's may accually help clean up the pitting in the wheel. You should be just fine.

I have some polish I use on my chrome cobra wheels, they do pit alittle every now and then, but after spending some time poishing them up...they look fantastic, like there wasn't any pitting at all on them.

Here is what I use....

you just rip off pieces at a time and polish away....it works AWESOME!!!!

Is NeverDull a product to justpolish the wheels, or will it help with the pitting? The owner said that it looks like "dust" and is very slight. Is there any way to smooth it out without harming the wheel? Any effective products or techniques? Thanks.

once chrome becomes pitted.....that's it.. no fixing it..you can polish it the best you can buy eventually the chrome may start to flake off there

I mean I am going to keep very good upkeep on these. Judging by the pics the pitting, if thats even what it is, must be so slight its very hard to even see. Would putting some type of wax or something on the spots protect them from any moisture or flaking?

I got the rims and tires for 600 when the rims go for 1000 new alone. With these small imperfections do you guys think I got ripped?

you could put a little bit of navel jelly on the pitted spots it helps to prevent the spread of more rust and then just keep em clean and polished and they will be fine hope that helps!

Dude, you're fine. Just polish them up and get in the car and mash the gas and forget about it. $600 for chrome ponies w/ useable tires isn't bad. I just sold a set that were okay, not chrome, with roller tires for $250. So figure you got chrome and good tires so you paid a fair price...plus those center caps are more expensive.
