Default Mufflers flow tubes flanges cut off?

I currently got 2.5" catback, I am taking car in to get an O/R H pipe. The flow tubes thatcome from the back of mufflers which connect to the H pipe by flanges have been cut off by previous owner, so I will have to have flanges welded back on. The shop is telling me that they can put on new flow tubes w flanges ONLY if the current flow tubes w/o flangesare 2.25" and if the flowtubes are 2.5" that I might have to get new catback.

Yea, forget that shop, I already called the shop that did my catback. He said he has a midpipe in stock that is 2.5" h pipe w/ cats, but he does not know what brand it is. Is it really that big of a deal what brand it is.

I decided to go with a H pipe w high flow cats. Dam, I know a O/R H would sound bad azz, but I don't have the tools and lifts to swap for emissions and don't want to hassle with it. The hell with the flangesthe shop is gonna weld the H pipe in where it connects to mufflers and bolt it to headers.
