Default Problems With my Clutch

I was told my 88 mustang 5.0 needed a clutch cable, so once i replaced that i am hearing a ratcheting noise then a pop. I am trying to find a way to put tension on the cable, or find what is broken/ not working so I can get my baby back on the road
Any help is greatly appreciated

THANKS

So is the pedal going to the floor when this ratchet/pop noise happens? Sounds like it's time for an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjusted.
