I am looking at a 88 gt convertable its a automatic the car has a vortec s/c made 420rwhp it has ported gt40 heads tirck flow intake msd most of the usual stuff . Car is automatic with 3000 converter. Newer paint looks good. It needs a new top the top has a tear in it windshied has a big crack in it. With a top and new windshield in it it would be a clean car. The owner removed the non working a/c. What would you best guess be on what its worth? You cant go with blue book on this kind of car but I dont want to get hosed either. I was thinking about getting the car driving it some this summer putting a new top on it and maybe selling it. What would a good price be? he wants $8000

Car has 120,00 He says motor has about 7000 trans and coverter 4000. Car looks clean nice paint just needs a new top and windshield. He has dyno sheets from where they did the tune if the thing made 420 rwhp with a auto at 9.5 lbs of boost. What kind of times 1/4 mile would this thing run if you could get it to hook up.

I wouldnt be suprised if he hit mid to high 11s. Although if hes a bad driver, he could of been in the 12s. A lot of it also has to do with his suspension setup, or lack of. In my opinion, 8k is a little expensive for something like that, however I would consider 6000 reasonable.

$6-$6500 seems like a decent deal. is it a c4 auto or an aod ? the aod was the stock auto, and is junk.

it really holds the car back and very very weak, i doubt it'll hit 11's w/ the aod, it would however probably go 11.60's on a 5-speed

Trans was rebuilt about 4000 miles with trans go kit and trans cooler added. I was thinking $5500 would be a good deal But I hate to insult someone on their car that they have put so mutch time and work into. How can I relay to him its true worth?

seems like its a nice setup,but i still wouldnt pay more than 6. you can find these cars all day long in the 6k price range and for a little more you can find some crazy foxes pushing rediculous power. also being auto and convertible kinda ruins it for me. its worth more(usually)thana hardtop though. just tell the guy that you dont want to insult him but you have done your reasearch, talked to several people, and figured the value to be around 6k or so. most people are willing to negotiate anyway. if you arent a ***** toward the guy and respect him and tell him that its a nice car but needs just a little work and that you arent trying to lowball him and insult him, he should react fine about it. just talk to him abd see what hes willing to do. good luck with it

tops probably gonna run 1k so youi can take that into consideration then about 200-250 for the new windsheild

Dood vert top is not 1k i had it priced at 350 installed and thats a good top but then again different states very in pricei guess. i have to take that into concideration
