Default REARS AND THEIR GEARS...

You know were all on a budget and trying to save money on are stallions.

I have an Auburn Differential. I need 31 spline axles 4lug, bearings, seals, oil, modifier, and gears..I"M GOING WITH 3.73

I"VE DECIDED TO spend $400 on labor to get it done right, so the only way to cut down on cost is to buy used parts.
I'm not too much of a fan of used parts, but what do you think of these gears:: WORTH IT???

I personally would never install used gears.

also, save yourself the money and upgrade the whole axle at once..

no point in paying to install gears twice

every shop around here will not install used gears make sure your shop will before you buy them!

summit has some axles for 250ish 31 spline and you will need a new carrier for the 31 spline axles

you can raid a junkyard for a truck witha 8.831 splines and get the carrier pretty cheap if you dont have one

is that the auburn that doesnt use c clips???then you will need c-clip elimanaters also.

rearends just cost to much lol$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm pretty sure these 31 spline axles work on my stock housing.... I've already been inside the housing, its pretty good condition.

31 spline axles will work on the stock axle... but not the carrier.... you WILL need to get another one

I actually talked with Auburn today and they said no, I don't need a new carrier - and I know how to explain things thoroughly - he ensured me too

anyways I've decided to sell that Diff.... bc its only a 100bucks more to get a completely new axle assembly

Wouldnt you break a stud before the axle would break. So why are you switching to bigger spline axles.

31 spline axles are thicker, and take more abuse... I have seen people shatter stock 28 spline axles..

which makes me want something stronger!

Ya my mechanic told me that used gears can cause problems and weird sounds. The gears kinda form into the diff theyre originally installed in. Id rather spend a bit less on labour and more on new gears. I have a shop that will put them in for $150 for me. They did my clutch/rear main seal for $150 also.
