Project 5.GO!

For some time, my E-brake indicator light has been light has been going on when I accelerate and off when I brake. Today, I took off the center console cover and examined the switch that controls it. It looks like the light should switch on when the contact is made between the tabs on the switch when the switch is let out (brake handle is up), and switch off when the brake handle depresses the sensor, breaking the circuit.


I messed around with the switch manually depressing it with the car running, and regardless of the position of the switch, the light wont go off, although it probably might go off if I was decelerating. Even when I unplug the switch it stays on.


Any ideas?

Come on now, if this thread were to stay open too long, this little gem will be my legacy to the forum. Teaching the people the value of doggedly going after the obscure, seemingly impossible cause when the simple one is staring you in the face.

now if the level was low.................check the brake pads and make sure they are not getting low and trace all lines to check for leaks.........common place for leaks are rear wheel cylinders......fluid level was low for one of two reasons...1. pads/shoes worn...... 2. Fluid leaks
