i was under the impression it could be done with a reg comp tester? but i geuss not?

you cant. you gotta use a cylinder leak down test its got similar hoses to the compression kit like what plugs into the spark plug hole

plugs only show oil burning in 8th cyl. i was told rings by a guy i now that has a motor shop. but i still think its valves. the car had bin siting for 3 years before i got it. i have done a compleet tune up on it all but trans fluid and rear end thats next and it runs grate but it smokes a little.

its your rings the oil is getting forced up at your spark plug
