Default ran a cylinder leak down test and was very surprised

i brought my car into class today to do a cylinder leak down test and was very surprised with what the readings were

1. 30%
2. 20%
3. 15%
4. 20%
5. 35%
6. 20%
7. 20%
8. 15%

i was expecting it to be a hell of a lot worse than that and they were all leaking from the rings my valves were perfectly fine

you have to get a kit for it. let the engine get up to operating temp then take out all your spark plugs. then starting with #1 cylinder get it on tdc on the compression stroke. pressurize the cylinder. the gauge wll show you how much the cylinder is leaking i think spec is between 6% and 10% leakage. thats also on a brand new engine. if you have more than that you have to listen for the air in different places. if you hear it from the tb its the intake valve seat is no good or a bent valve. same goes for the exhaust it will be the exhaust valve. from the oil filler its the rings and in the coolant its a cracked block, cracked head, or blown head gasket, in the adjasent cylinder its the head gasket as well

lol actually those arent built very well till you cement them together with others to make a wall. 5.0 is more like as strong as a wall of those
