And I believe there were certain options that were only available with GT's (power seats maybe?)

No side skirts and same bumper on the GT the only thing diffrent on the four eyes on the outside is it says gt on the molding and has fog lights

it coudl possibly eb a lx with a gt body kit, but when i had my 85...i wanted to buy some new gt sidemoldings for it and all that, too expensive..lol why would osmeone do that????
