another supercharger question
my car is a street legal Calif. car, and i want it to stay that way.
i have a 90 LX 5 spd w/ 3.73's. it has a RPM clone intake w/ spacer, 70mm TB, 73mm MAF, 24# injectors, 1.7 rockers, equal length shorties, 2.5" exhaust all the way w/ 2 hi flo cats. and a lot of stuff to make it go left & right & stop.
i built it for open track runs, but also like to go to the strip.
i bought apair of craigar 8x15's & MT 235/60Rx15 (26x9.5) DOT drag radials.
i want to put on a centrifical supercharger. probably a procharger or a vortech.
here are my questions:
[ul][*]i assume my intake will work aas the s/c is cramming air in. Correct?[*]will my stock heads support the s/c. the s/c should also over come the stock intake, but the weak side is the exhaust and i am concerned these heads will limit the potential HP. ???????[*]keeping in mind the calif smog ckecks, what cam works well with this engine? something in the 110* to 112* LSA????[*]is 8 psi reasonable? low? high? how about 10psi?[*]when do i need an intercooler?[/ul]
thanks in advancefor the help.

RE: another supercharger question
1. Your intake will work just fine with a Supercharger. You would only have to change it if you went with a roots/twinscrew style blower such as a Kenny Bell.
2. Stock heads will work fine, they will however cork your HP a bit. Nice HP can still be seen with your stock heads though.
3. Cam wise, I recommend the stock cam. It works well with the supercharger, you'll have a smooth idle and won't have to worry about passing smog checks.
4. 8-12psi is a completely reasonable boost number with stock heads. People have even gone a lot higher then that with a bigger risk(16-18psi).
5. Intercooler is always a nice option when it comes to forced induction. It isn't required but it will bring you more power. Look into Water/Meth injection.
