Default anyone ever had this happen?

this is the second time i have experienced this and in the last 3 months. just today my buddy who is my partner at work said this happened to him once with his 90 lx he used to have. my original motorcraft alternator in my 93 lx went about 3 weeks ago after 126k miles. i wound up going with a powermaster 190 amp for a replacement that my guy at my auto parts store ordered for me. i've had it in there for two weeks, and almost 2k miles. this is my daily driver at the moment, and i commute 76 miles one way for work. about the last 40 minutes of my ride home last night my amp light comes flashing on again. i'm thinking 'what the **** is this? i just replaced this damn thing!'. within the last 20 minutes it stayed on, my temperature gauge goes up, the volts go down, i lose my power steering, and my water pump isn't circulating the coolant. i wind up snapping the belt on the way.

turns out i had a bad hub in the alternator, and caused the belt to stop turning. i came really close to overheating. it was smoking, and really hot. i left the hood open all night, and tested it this morning. alternator is done, i took it to my parts guy, he tests it out, it's done. it had a lifetime warranty so he ordered me a new one to pick up tomorrow. this happened to us when me, and my friend were in his 66 chevy pickup 3 months ago. i was so lucky this thing didn't go out further from home.

it's alright i went 30k miles without putting anything into it other than oil, radiator and coolant flush, fuel filter, and differential oil change.

I was riding shotgun in my buddys 88 GT and his smog pump locked up and burned his belt late at night and it left us stranded on the side of the highway. (so somewhat similar thing)

it didn't break my buddies belt in his 66 chevy pickup when i was with him. i don't think it broke my friend in his 90 lx belt either. mine was kinda worn.
