the only way i could see it working is to take out the wiring harnis and computer from the mustang and put it in the truck with the new HO 5.0. it is not that hard just takes time.

I think I see what's going on now. Changing the firing order of the donor engine would be way too much work and you might even lose HP in the process. While the donor 5.0 you have is set up for the HO firing order you would have to swap out the wiring harness in the truck so that the fuelinjectors shoot in the right order. Like others saidswapping out the wiring harness and computer in the truck would be fairly time consuming but if you are up for the challenge then go for it. It would certainly be a unique project.

I think 86 is still carb. a friend of mine had a 87 back inn the day and it was carb. If im not mistaken, fuel injection started inn 88. theres only two ways for that motor to work in your pick up; you can install the harness from the cobra inn your pick up, or put a bad **** carb on that cobra motor and youll be home free, no wire change, no cam change, no crank change needed, not that I think its possible but these are my 2 cents. good luck pal. Im greatly interested in the outcome of this project keep us posted.

302's were fuel injected in 86 and up, 351's were carbed until 87.
