I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the new boss 302? Not sure if you all talked about this before, this is my first day on this forum or any forum. Thanks for your thoughts.

If I had the money I would consider buying one. It should be able to handle 1,000+hp without much difficulty. Cheaper than some of the other aftermarket blocks, but also not quite as high end. A good block for a high horsepower applications.

[sm=WTFsgign.gif]what's a 331 or 352/Ithink you mean 351.....got to do with a boss block......a 331 can be made with a stock or boss block...I fail to see any relation between what the op is asking and the reccommendation you are drawing???...anyway a boss block is worth the money if you plan to build a motor in excess of 500 hp......and it is expensive and a unfinished block that requires alot of machining to be in a final state of use

Yeah I know they did it was from the FE family but it doesn't make sense... not a popular engine or typical swap...most likely a typo

about there... wasn't that when they had their dizzys in the back of the engine?

*edit* sorry, my bad, I was thinking of the old school t-bird engines with it on the back, the FE's had fronts...

The Boss is a nice block and it's relatively inexpensive in the aftermarker block area, but there are 2 things to think about:
1) Maximum recommended stroke is 3.400"
2) Main caps are ductile iron

The Dart blocks can accommodate larger stokes and have billet steel main caps, they are however more expensive. So it will come down to what your needs are.

I like the Dart blocks cuz they'll take larger bores as well. Some of them will take .185" overbores and still have .250" wall thickness. They also offer iron blocks in the newer compressed graphite iron.
